Appropriate Ergonomic Selections
We have relationships with many manufacturers and will recommend the best options regarding ergonomic equipment on the market. We will reduce the risks of injuries in the workplace with appropriate ergonomic selections.
Ergonomic Seating: Task chairs, stools, back supports, headrests, armrests, and other seating solutions selected to provide appropriate support and positioning.
Keyboard & Mouse Solutions: Alternative keyboards, pointing devices, keyboard trays, and other input solutions designed to promote neutral positioning of the hands, wrists, forearms, elbows, and shoulders.
Sit/Stand Workstations: Height-adjustable desks and workstation solutions that allow employees to alternate between sitting and standing throughout the workday.
Monitor & Laptop Positioning: Monitor arms, monitor stands, laptop stands, and multiple-monitor configurations designed to improve viewing height and reduce sustained or awkward neck positioning.
Workstation Accessories: Footrests, document holders, headsets, task lighting, writing aids, and other accessories that may improve workstation positioning and reduce unnecessary reaching or physical strain.
Assistive Technology: When appropriate, ARC may recommend alternative methods of computer access, including Dragon voice recognition, speech recognition and voice activation technology, to reduce repetitive keyboard and mouse use.
Evaluation Before Equipment
ARC recommends that ergonomic equipment be selected based on an evaluation whenever possible. An ergonomic chair, keyboard, mouse, or sit/stand workstation may be marketed as “ergonomic,” but that does not necessarily mean it is appropriate for every employee. Equipment should fit the individual, accommodate the workstation, support the employee’s job duties, and address the specific ergonomic concerns identified during the evaluation. This is particularly important following an injury or when an employee has a diagnosed musculoskeletal condition.
